Overview

NNG Connect is a fitness app concept designed to help people find workout partners, stay motivated, and make physical activity a more social and enjoyable experience.

The project began with a client brief focused on connecting people through sports and fitness. The goal was to create a digital experience that would help users discover like-minded workout partners, encourage one another, and build healthier habits together.

Created in 2022, this was my first UI/UX design project and an important starting point in my journey as a designer. It gave me the opportunity to explore how thoughtful interface design can address everyday challenges and turn an idea into a visual product concept.

The Challenge

Making fitness more social and motivating

Staying active can be challenging when people lack motivation, consistency, or someone to share their fitness journey with. Exercising alone may make it harder for some people to stay committed to their goals.

The challenge was to explore how a mobile app could help people connect with suitable sports partners and make physical activity feel more engaging, social, and rewarding.

NNG Connect was envisioned as a platform that brings people together around a shared interest in fitness, making it easier to find a workout companion and encourage each other to stay active.

The Goal

The main goal was to design a mobile experience that makes finding a workout partner feel simple and approachable.

The design concept focused on three key objectives:

  • Connect people: Help users discover others who share their interest in sports and fitness.

  • Encourage motivation: Make exercising with a partner an appealing way to build consistency and accountability.

  • Simplify the experience: Create an intuitive interface that makes the app easy to understand and navigate.

The broader vision was to make fitness feel less like a solo commitment and more like a shared experience.

The Approach

Turning the idea into a mobile experience

I approached the project by translating the client's concept into a visual mobile app experience. As I was learning UI/UX design at the time, the project was an opportunity to explore how layout, visual hierarchy, typography, color, and navigation work together to communicate a product's purpose.

My focus was on creating an interface that felt welcoming, modern, and easy to understand, while keeping the central idea of connecting people through fitness at the heart of the design.

The process helped me begin thinking beyond individual screens and consider how the overall experience should feel to someone using the product.

The Proposed Solution

NNG Connect explores the idea of bringing the social side of fitness into a single mobile experience. By centering the product around finding workout partners, the concept aims to make it easier for people to connect over shared sporting interests and encourage each other to stay active.

The proposed experience combines a clear mobile interface with a people-first concept, positioning fitness as something that can be more enjoyable when shared with others.

The project represents an early exploration of how digital products can support motivation, connection, and healthier everyday habits.

The Outcome

From a client brief to my first UI/UX project

The outcome was a mobile app design concept for NNG Connect, translating the client's vision into a visual direction for a fitness partner-finding experience.

Beyond the design itself, the project marked an important milestone in my development as a designer. It gave me my first opportunity to work with a client brief, explore a product idea, and apply the principles of UI/UX design to a real-world concept.

Although this was an early project in my journey, it laid the foundation for how I approach design today: understanding the purpose behind a product and using design to make that purpose clear to its users.
